Dear Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2016-2017 Choralis season.  We are excited to present “Of Kings and Kingdoms” – a series of concerts highlighting music inspired by both the spiritual and temporal realms.

  • Ēchos, our chamber ensemble, opens the season with a concert in which inner peace and devotion are central to all the pieces being performed
  • Brahms’ sublime Ein deutsches Requiem, which Choralis will perform in October, again contemplates the Heavenly Kingdom
  • Our annual “Classic Brass Christmas” concert will feature Wenceslas, by acclaimed British composer Bob Chilcott, based on the familiar carol about the benevolent monarch
  • The season culminates with music for “A Royal Affair,” including performances of Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5  (The Emperor) and Mendelssohn’s Psalm 115

In keeping with Choralis’ mission of cultivating future choral music performers, we also are launching a new initiative this season, the Young Artists Competition.  The competition will give aspiring soloists the chance to compete for a cash prize and an opportunity to sing as soloists with Choralis in our final concert this season.

I look forward to seeing you all, and thank you for being part of the Choralis Family.
