Choralis is pleased to announce the winners of the Eighth Annual Greater Washington DC Area Choral Excellence “Ovation” Awards, held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at The Clarendon Ballroom.  Maestro Tom Hall, Music Director Emeritus of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society received the J. Reilly Lewis Award for Outstanding Contributions to Choral Music, the Ovations’ highest honor. The winners of the three additional Ovation awards presented that evening are:

  • Most Creative Programming, Thomas Circle Singers, James Kreger, Artistic Director
  • Best Symphonic Chorus,  Choral Arts Society of Washington, Scott Tucker, Artistic Director
  • Outstanding Specialty or Show Chorus, The Washington Revels Chorus, Elizabeth Fulford, Music Director

The Choralis Foundation established the Ovation Awards in 2010 to provide an opportunity to celebrate the rich choral tradition and diverse choral community of the greater Washington, D.C. area.  Past recipients of the main Ovation award for outstanding contributions to choral music include: the late J. Reilly Lewis, the late Norman Scribner, Robert Shafer, Mark Ohnmacht, Pamela Lassell, Joan Gregoryk, and Stanley Thurston.
